Descrizione

2-Chlorobenzhydrazide is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound that has antibacterial activity. In vivo assays show that 2-chlorobenzhydrazide inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their DNA, leading to apoptotic cell death. The molecule also inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro (in a culture dish) and in vivo assays. 2-Chlorobenzhydrazide binds to copper ions and forms a copper complex, which inhibits bacterial growth. This ligand is selective for bacterial cells because it does not bind to mammalian cells.
