Descrizione:Cefmetazole is a drug with antimicrobial activity that is used to treat bacterial infections. It has been shown to be highly active against resistant mutants and in vitro studies have demonstrated that it is not toxic to mammalian cells. Cefmetazole has been shown to bind to the 50S subunit of the ribosome and inhibit protein synthesis by preventing the formation of peptide bonds between amino acids. This drug also inhibits ATP-dependent transport, which may be due to its ability to bind directly to the 50S ribosomal subunit. Cefmetazole sodium (CMS) is a salt form that can be dissolved in water, making it more soluble than cefmetazole anhydrous (CA). CMS is more easily absorbed by the body and has minimal toxicity when compared with CA.
