Descrizione:Cresol is a chemical substance that has been shown to have toxic effects on the liver and the kidneys. Cresol is an aliphatic phenol and a glycol ether. It is used as a solvent in paints, varnishes, and lacquers. The toxicity of cresol may be due to its ability to inhibit polymerase chain reactions (PCR). Cresols are also found in human serum and are produced by gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae.
