It also has antimycobacterial activity, inhibiting the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. This compound has a ruthenium complex that can be used as a photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy (PDT) against tumors.; 2H-Chromene-3-carbaldehyde also inhibits kidney cells, preventing them from synthesizing DNA and RNA.
