Descrizione:4-Chloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid is a chloroacetic acid that is used as an antibacterial agent. It has been shown to have a broad spectrum of activity against bacteria, including gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. 4-Chloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid is active against both stationary and mobile phases of growth. It has also been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of fungi, such as Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus fumigatus, Penicillium notatum, and Fusarium oxysporum. This compound can be synthesized from carboxylic acids by reacting them with sodium nitrite in the presence of dry nitrogen gas to form chloroacetic acid. The chemical formula for this compound is CHClOOC(CH)COOH.
