2-Chloro-6-cyanopyridine is an organic compound that belongs to the group of heterocyclic compounds. It can be synthesized by reacting phosphorus pentachloride with 2-chloro-6-hydroxypyridine. The crystal structure of this compound was determined using x-ray diffraction, and it is a pairwise compound. It has two orientations. This organic compound has a chlorine atom in its molecule, which is a nucleophilic atom. The amination reaction between ammonia and 2-chloro-6-cyanopyridine yields the corresponding amine product, as well as the second isomer of 2 chloro 6 cyano pyridine. This process also requires a cocatalyst such as sodium bicarbonate or potassium carbonate to facilitate the reaction. The mononuclear form of this compound lacks a chloride ion, which is located on one side of the molecule, whereas the dianion form
