Cinchonidine Dihydrochloride is used as an anti-inflammatory agent, as well as to treat chronic inflammation and pain. The drug has been shown to decrease viscosity in vitro, which may be due to the formation of hydrogen bonds between the amines and glycerin in the compound. This drug can also be synthesized using transesterification reactions of amines with quinine or pyridine rings, followed by purification via gel permeation chromatography. Cinchonidine Dihydrochloride is also used as a synthetic intermediate in ion-exchange resins, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
