This product is also used in the synthesis of chitosan quaternary ammonium, an absorber for liquid chromatography and gel permeation chromatography. Cinchonidine Sulfate Dihydrate is also used as a bitter substance to make medicines more palatable. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on ipecac and benzoates, which are substances found in some plants that cause vomiting and nausea.
