Descrizione:Cimetidine is a histamine-2 receptor antagonist that is used to treat peptic ulcers and gastric acid hypersecretion. It has been shown to reduce the growth of tumor cells in culture and to inhibit the synthesis of interferon alfa-2b, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products, and carbenoxolone sodium. Cimetidine has also been shown to have a long-term toxicity in rats and mice. These effects are believed to be due to cimetidine's inhibition of plasma mass spectrometry and its ability to induce metabolic disorders such as hypokalemia, hypomagnesaemia, hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, or hypothyroidism.
