Descrizione

4'-Carboxybenzo-18-crown 6-ether is a fluorescent probe that can be used for the detection of water molecules. It has been used to detect the presence of carboxylate ions in urine samples and as an analytical chemistry reagent. The absorbance spectrum of 4'-carboxybenzo-18-crown 6-ether overlaps with the nmr spectra of potassium ion, which allows it to be used as a potassium ion detector. It has also been shown that this molecule is immobilized on surfaces by hydrogen bonding interactions.
