• Descrizione: 2-Cyanobenzyl cyanide is a nucleophilic compound with a reactive thiolate group. This molecule has been shown to react with amines and colorants to form reaction products. 2-Cyanobenzyl cyanide has also been shown to be an effective antibacterial agent against marine microorganisms and some strains of bacteria. It binds to the drug binding site on the bacterial cell wall and disrupts the production of enzymes, which leads to cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis. The functional theory of this molecule is that it reacts with an enzyme in the bacterial cell wall, leading to inhibition of enzyme activity. This inhibition of enzyme activity leads to inhibition of protein synthesis, which eventually leads to death of the bacteria.
