2-Chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenol is a synthetic chemical that is used as an oxidant. It is synthesized by the reaction of an alkali metal, such as potassium or sodium, with diphenyl ether. 2-Chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenol can be used to remove organic contaminants from wastewater. The reaction time for 2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenol depends on the type of contaminant being oxidized and the amount of oxidant present.
