Autophagy is essential for the survival of cancer cells, which depend on this process for energy production. CongmunosideX also blocks tumor angiogenesis by inhibiting tumor cell migration and adhesion to capillary walls, which can prevent metastasis. The saponins in this compound are conjugated with carbon sources such as glucose or glycerol and can target specific organs or tissues that are affected by disease or injury.
