Corylin is a drug that belongs to the class of fructus ligustri. It is used as a complementary and alternative medicine for the treatment of psoriasis and other skin conditions. Corylin has been shown to have biological properties and inhibit the inflammatory response in t84 cells induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Corylin also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, and interleukin-6 in human serum. The drug has been shown to be safe when taken orally by humans for up to 12 weeks. In vitro studies show that this drug can inhibit the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process through its ability to bind to DNA and RNA, which may affect its use in PCR analysis methods.
