Descrizione

Chamazulene is a sesquiterpene lactone with biological properties that include anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme lipoxygenase in soybeans, which is responsible for the production of fatty acids. This compound also inhibits the growth of herpes simplex virus and has been shown to have cytosolic calcium-binding activity in vitro. Chamazulene's structure was determined by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, which yielded a molecular weight of 338.359 Da.
