5-[2-Chloro-5-(Trifluoromethyl)Phenoxy]-2-Nitrobenzoic Acid is an isoxazole that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria. It inhibits the enzymes (Diphenyl Ether Nitroreductase, Connective Tissue Nitroreductase, and Proteolytic Nitroreductase) involved in the biosynthesis of nitric oxide. This drug also inhibits the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. 5-[2-Chloro-5-(Trifluoromethyl)Phenoxy]-2-Nitrobenzoic Acid competitively binds to the enzyme carboxamide reductase, which catalyzes the conversion of 2-chloroisonicotinic acid into 2-chloropropionic acid.
