3,4-Dimethoxy-alpha-methyl-dopa is a chiral compound. It can be synthesized from the methylation of alpha-methyl-tyrosine with hydrochloric acid and sodium methoxide in methanol. 3,4-Dimethoxy-alpha-methyl-dopa is used as a chiral synthon for the synthesis of various organic compounds and has been shown to have pharmacological properties. This compound can also be used as an intermediate for the preparation of other chiral compounds. 3,4-Dimethoxy-alpha-methyl-dopa is a dynamic reaction that can be carried out in high yield under preparative conditions.
