1,2-Dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi by inhibiting DNA synthesis. It has a high resistance to nitro groups, which makes it an ideal candidate for use in the treatment of infections caused by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). 1,2-Dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one has been shown to be effective in the treatment of skin infections and urinary tract infections. This drug also has congestive heart failure properties. The binding of this drug to human serum proteins is weak and therefore it can be used in patients with liver or kidney dysfunction. 1,2-Dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one is also a heterocycle that is mesomeric in nature.
