It is used as an anti-inflammatory agent and in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and other inflammatory diseases. 7-Didemethyl Minocycline binds to the enzyme peroxidase and inhibits its activity, which may be related to its anti-inflammatory properties. This drug also has been shown to inhibit gelatinase activity in vitro.
