1-(2,4-Dichloro-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-yl)-1H-imidazole mononitrate is an antifungal agent that is used in pharmaceutical dosage. It has been shown to have a constant activity against Trichophyton mentagrophytes and T. rubrum. 1-(2,4-Dichloro-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5) -1H-imidazole mononitrate has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the fungal enzyme 14 alpha demethylase (14αDM). The inhibition of this enzyme leads to the accumulation of 14 alpha methylated sterols, which are toxic for the fungi and lead to cell death. The inhibition of 14
