Descrizione:4-DeMethyltriMethoprim is a sulfamethoxazole prodrug that is converted to the active form, sulfamethoxazole, by hydrolysis in the liver. This drug has been shown to be excreted in the urine as glucuronide conjugates. 4-DeMethyltriMethoprim can also be found in plasma and tissues as sulfamethoxazole, which is present as an n-oxide derivative. The elimination of 4-DeMethyltriMethoprim occurs primarily through the kidney with a small amount excreted unchanged in the urine.
