It has been shown that 11-deoxycorticosterone has no effect on blood pressure in low doses, but when given at high doses it can cause hypertension. The drug also causes some cardiac effects, such as increased heart rate and contraction force. 11-Deoxycorticosterone is metabolized by deoxycorticosterone acetate into carbenoxolone sodium and then excreted in the urine.
