• Descrizione: Desacetyl diltiazem is a prodrug that is metabolized to the active form, diltiazem, in vivo. Desacetyl diltiazem has shown to be an inhibitor of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and has been used for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. The pharmacokinetic properties of desacetyl diltiazem have been studied in human serum, as well as in human liver and chronic oral studies. This drug has also been shown to inhibit the enzyme activities of cytochrome P450 3A4, CYP2C9, CYP2D6, and CYP3A4. Desacetyl diltiazem is not recommended for patients with hepatic impairment due to its potential for drug interactions.
