• Descrizione: 17-Desacetyl norgestimate is a contraceptive drug that is administered as a transdermal patch. It is used to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation and interfering with the production of progesterone, which is needed for the maintenance of pregnancy. Norgestimate binds to the progesterone receptor in the uterus and prevents implantation of a fertilized egg. 17-Desacetyl norgestimate has been shown to be effective in preventing pregnancies in women who are not using other hormonal contraceptives. This drug also has an anti-inflammatory effect on ovarian tissue, which may be due to its inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNFα.
