• Descrizione: D,L-O-Desmethyl venlafaxine is a metabolite of venlafaxine. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of blood coagulation and may be more potent than its parent drug in preventing the formation of clots in the blood vessels. This agent is also used as a solvent for analytical methods such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and can be used to measure concentrations of other drugs in the blood. D,L-O-Desmethyl venlafaxine inhibits hepatic metabolism by competitive inhibition with CYP2D6 and therefore may cause increased levels of its parent drug. It may also cause ionotropic gelation due to its ability to bind strongly to sulfhydryl groups on proteins. D,L-O-Desmethyl venlafaxine is not active against bacterial pathogens but has been shown to have an anti-depressant effect in laboratory animals.
