Sephadex is a polymeric matrix that is used to separate and purify biological molecules. It is composed of linear polystyrene beads with a diameter of approximately 1 μm, which are cross-linked by dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide. Sephadex g-100 has been shown to be a drug transporter for certain drugs and it aids in the removal of surfactant sodium dodecyl. The matrix effect can be determined using titration calorimetry. This method has also been used to determine the surface glycoprotein of human immunoglobulin G, which can be found on the surface of many cells. Sephadex g-100 also has an analytical method to measure its phase transition temperature, which can range from -5°C to 60°C.
