3,5-Dichlorosalicylaldehyde is a molecule that contains an x-ray crystal structure. It has been shown to have tumor-treating properties and is used in the treatment of cancer. 3,5-Dichlorosalicylaldehyde has also been shown to bind to DNA in the apical region of the cell. The molecule has hydroxyl groups that can form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. 3,5-Dichlorosalicylaldehyde can be synthesized from 3,5-dichlorobenzaldehyde and hydrochloric acid. 3,5-Dichlorosalicylaldehyde also has biological properties that include binding to copper ions and inhibiting human liver functions.
