Dihydrolipoic acid is a natural compound that belongs to the group of lipoic acids. It is an antioxidant and has been shown to inhibit protein oxidation and tumor formation in skin. Dihydrolipoic acid also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to bind DNA and proteins. Dihydrolipoic acid can also be used as a polymerization catalyst for the production of polymers with high degrees of stereospecificity. It can also act as a reducing agent for chemical reactions or as a cofactor for enzymes involved in metabolism.
