Descrizione:Dihydroxybenzene is the parent compound of a wide range of derivatives, which are used in various applications. The most well-known derivative is probably the anti-malarial drug quinine. In this study, we have synthesized a series of dihydroxybenzenes by using a new regressive method. We investigated the effect of these compounds on malignant glioma cells and found that some dihydroxybenzenes inhibited cell proliferation and caused apoptosis. This was shown by in vitro studies and crystal x-ray diffraction analysis.
