• Descrizione: Diethyl 2-bromo-2-methylmalonate is a synthetic compound that is used as a polymerization inhibitor. The ring-opening of diethyl 2-bromo-2-methylmalonate, which yields ethyl bromoacetate and methyl bromoacetate, can be catalyzed by a copper complex. The synthesis of this compound can be accomplished in two steps, first by the synthesis of phenoxazine from ethyl bromoacetate and methyl bromoacetate, followed by the transfer reaction with diethyl malonate. This synthetic compound is insensitive to photophysical reactions and is stable in singlets. Diethyl 2-bromo-2-methylmalonate has been shown to have macroinitiator properties for the synthesis of polymers.
