Descrizione:Di-isopropyl sulphide is a chemical substance that belongs to the group of sulfides. It has been shown to be an antimicrobial agent and can be used as a preservative for cosmetics. Di-isopropyl sulphide is soluble in oils and water, but insoluble in ethanol. Its chemical properties are determined by its molecular weight, which is about 118.3 g/mol. The x-ray crystal structure of di-isopropyl sulphide has been solved using solid phase microextraction and light emission techniques, showing that it is a cationic polymerization catalyst with chemical structures similar to those found in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid or metathesis reactions. The mechanism of the reaction is not yet known, but conformational properties may play a role in determining its reactivity.
