It can be oxidized by oxidation catalyst at low energy and it forms palladium complexes in organic solution. 2,6-Dimethlnitrobenzene has been used as a cross-linking agent for biological studies and pharmaceutical preparations. It also inhibits a number of enzymes, including phospholipase A2, cyclooxygenase, and lipoxygenase.
