Descrizione:2,4-Dichloro-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid is a protonated molecule that has been found to be an effective antimicrobial agent against influenza virus and other infective agents. It is used in vitro as a tissue culture medium supplement to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. 2,4-Dichloro-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid has also been shown to have antiallergic properties and can be used to treat allergic symptoms. It binds to the cell walls of bacteria and prevents them from synthesizing proteins by inhibiting protein synthesis or by altering the permeability of bacterial cell membranes. 2,4-Dichlorobenzoic acid is structurally related to protocatechuic acid and irritants such as capsaicin.
