2-Dimethylaminoisopropyl chloride hydrochloride is a fluorescent molecule that emits light at wavelengths of 370-430 nm. It has a number of uses, such as detecting the presence or absence of chloride ions in water samples, determining the composition of petroleum products, and measuring the concentration of sodium ions in electrolytes. 2-Dimethylamino-1-propanesulfonic acid chloride hydrochloride can be used to identify the transition metal (Cu) in a sample, because it absorbs light at wavelengths below 450 nm.
