Dimethylformamide dipropyl acetal is a synthetic organic solvent that has been shown to be toxic to cells in culture. It is used as a sealant and can also be used to extract cannabinoids from plant material. Dimethylformamide dipropyl acetal has been detected in human urine and can be used as an analytical marker for kidney fibrosis. The inhibition activity of DMFDA has been tested on a number of different cell lines, including human kidney cells, fetal kidney cells, and liver cells. DMFDA was found to have the highest inhibitory activity towards the kidney cells (68% at 100 μM).
