Descrizione:2,4-Dichlorotriazine is a sulfa drug that contains a reactive chlorine atom. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of sulfadiazine, which is used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria and fungi. 2,4-Dichlorotriazine can be synthesized from trifluoroacetic acid and cyanuric chloride in the presence of an oxidation catalyst such as manganese dioxide or platinum oxide. This reaction produces a diazonium salt that reacts with amides to form 2,4-dichlorotriazines. The cytosolic enzyme nucleophilic hydroxylase catalyzes the conversion of 2,4-dichlorotriazines to reactive intermediates which can react with chloride ions to form chlorinated products in the environment.
