Descrizione:3',5'-Dibromo-4'-hydroxyacetophenone is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of methides. It has been shown to have anticancer activity and can inhibit the growth of cancer cells in culture. 3',5'-Dibromo-4'-hydroxyacetophenone is synthesized by an aerobic oxidation reaction with a biomimetic oxidant, such as hydrogen peroxide, potassium permanganate, or sodium perborate. The yields from this reaction are relatively low, with only about 10% of the starting material being converted to product. The use of a catalyst such as iron(III) chloride may increase the yield. 3',5'-Dibromo-4'-hydroxyacetophenone also inhibits cancer cell lines but not normal cells.
