Descrizione

1,2-Di(4-pyridyl)ethylene is a surfactant with the molecular formula C6H8N2. It can be used as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other surfactants and as a reagent in analytical chemistry. This molecule is able to bind to both hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces, which makes it an excellent emulsifier. 1,2-Di(4-pyridyl)ethylene also has potent biological activity and is used in lung fibroblast research to induce cell proliferation. The fluorescence properties of this molecule are due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding.
