• Descrizione: 3,5-Dibromobenzyl alcohol is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be effective against a number of bacteria. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus strains and other bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium and Klebsiella pneumoniae. 3,5-Dibromobenzyl alcohol is used in coatings and n-hexane solutions for medical devices. When this compound is pegylated it can be used as an antibacterial agent in polymeric materials. 3,5-Dibromobenzyl alcohol also inhibits the production of bacterial polyhedra by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis.
