2,4-Difluorotoluene is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate for the production of other chemicals. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of human mitochondrial dna replication and naphthalene metabolism in vitro. 2,4-Difluorotoluene has also been used in the synthesis of analogues with different chemical structures and activities. 2,4-Difluorotoluene binds to DNA duplexes by hydrogen bonding interactions and inhibits DNA replication by preventing the formation of hydrogen bonds between bases.
