Descrizione:Diphenoxylate hydrochloride is a drug that belongs to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is used for the treatment of bowel disease, such as irritable bowel syndrome and ulcerative colitis. It also has been used in the treatment of infectious diseases, such as bacterial infections, malaria, amebic dysentery, giardiasis, and shigellosis. Diphenoxylate hydrochloride inhibits the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity. It also binds to cell factor and antibiotic agents, which may be due to its polymerase chain reaction (PCR) properties. Diphenoxylate hydrochloride should not be taken with vancomycin hydrochloride because they are both metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and can cause drug interactions.
