5,7-Dihydroxyisoflavone is a potent inducer of cytosolic Ca2+ release. The effects on protein gene expression are also potent and occur in the absence of any other compounds. This compound has been shown to exert anti-inflammatory activity in experimental models. 5,7-Dihydroxyisoflavone has been shown to have a matrix effect and can improve the efficiency of wastewater treatment by reducing the concentration of organic matter that remains in solution. 5,7-Dihydroxyisoflavone is an analytical method for mefenamic acid. It is used in infectious diseases as a water vapor for inhalation therapy or as an aerosolized agent for pulmonary delivery.
