2,5-Dimethyl-4-methoxybenzaldehyde is a benzene compound that can exist in two isomeric forms (E and Z). The E isomer has optical activity (rotates plane polarized light) and the Z isomer does not. In the past, only the E form was analysed and used for research purposes. Recently, it has been discovered that the Z form of 2,5-dimethyl-4-methoxybenzaldehyde has a higher potential for use in industrial applications, such as plastics production.
