3,4-Dimethylbenzyl chloride is a synthetic compound that belongs to the group of chlorinated aromatic compounds. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. 3,4-Dimethylbenzyl chloride has been shown to inhibit the oxidation of human blood platelets at low concentrations and to inhibit calcium uptake and chlorine release by these cells. This may be due to its ability to bind with and inhibit the activity of protein kinase C and phospholipase A2 enzymes.
