Dichotomitin is a bioactive compound that inhibits the production of malonic acid, an intermediate in the fatty acid synthesis pathway. Dichotomitin also has anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit the growth of cells by blocking epidermal growth factor receptors. This active compound has been shown to have clinical relevance for the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as hepatitis and rheumatoid arthritis. It also has anti-angiogenic effects on human HL-60 cells and mouse fetal bovine aortic endothelial cells.
