Descrizione:1,3-Dichloro-2,2-difluoropropane is a chlorofluorocarbon that is used as a solvent. It has been found to be an electrophilic agent and can react with electron-rich molecules such as benzene and propanes. The reaction mechanism is not well understood, but it is believed that the chlorine atom in 1,3-Dichloro-2,2-difluoropropane reacts with the electron-rich molecule by attacking the carbon atom at the site of attachment of the two atoms. This produces a carbocation intermediate that then reacts with a second molecule of 1,3-Dichloro-2,2-difluoropropane to produce a chlorination product.
