Ethyl DL-Leucate is a white crystalline powder with a melting point of about 170°C. It is an ester that has been used for the preparation of diethyl succinate, which is a substrate in the synthesis of ethyl esters, fatty acids, and organic acids. This product also has applications in food chemistry due to its low odor and taste. Ethyl DL-Leucate has been used as a chemical pesticide to control pests such as Japanese beetles, leafhoppers, aphids, or thrips. It has also been utilized in surface methodology to study the sorption properties of functional groups on surfaces using solid phase microextraction.
