It has been shown to be an effective cross-linking agent for hyaluronic acid, spartina, and ammonium nitrate. This agent can also be used as a ligand in organic synthesis reactions involving hydrosilanes. 1-Ethylcyclohexanol has been shown to react with silicon surfaces at room temperature and at elevated temperatures, forming stable silicon complexes with alkyl substituents. 1-Ethylcyclohexanol reacts with allyl ligands in acetonitrile or tetrahydrofuran solution to form oxoalkyls.
