4-Ethynylpyridine is a yellow solid that is soluble in most organic solvents. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of Cox-2, which is a pro-inflammatory enzyme. 4-Ethynylpyridine also inhibits the production of nitric oxide by inhibiting the enzyme inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS).
