Descrizione:(E)-4-Iodocinnamic acid is a supramolecular organic compound that can be found in Labiatae (mint) plants. It has been shown to have potent cytotoxicity against cancer cells, as well as being able to produce nitrosation reactions. The molecular structure of (E)-4-iodocinnamic acid consists of two pairs of phenyl rings connected by a methylene bridge. The hydroxyl group on the second phenyl ring interacts with the amide bond on the first phenyl ring, which stabilizes the molecule and prevents it from melting into a liquid or solid at room temperature. This interaction leads to an increase in its mesomorphic properties and polymorphism.
